Bracken is only able to cast one spell at a time. Simply put, bigger spells take longer.
Elemental Magic
Bracken's specialty is elemental magic. In particular, he can summon fire, wind, water, earth and lightning based attacks. The game he's from allows custom attacks, and it's the only job he's concentrated on for years, so he's able to manipulate this offensive magic with incredible skill.
The main difference that he'll come across in a new setting is that he's unused to doing damage to friends. His spells usually automatically ignore anyone he's partied with - but without a party system that won't work anymore. He's likely to damage comrades until he discovers this problem.
Debuffs
The amount of debuffs Bracken can cast is far less extensive than his elemental magic. His favorites are spells that do damage over time, 'poison' being at the top of his list. He likes these because they're fast and he can run while they still work. Spells like 'bind' can give him a chance to flee.
These spells, however, are far less powerful and less likely to land. In some cases, like 'poison', they won't do anything to certain creatures. Even if he did cast it on someone, it would wear off long before it could kill anyone, and would never be fatal by itself.
Buffs
His ability to cast 'buffs' is very limited. He can increase his resistance to magic and physical attacks, or increase his magical attacks. That is all.
Healing Magic
He can heal himself without repercussions.
He can only heal others by sacrificing some of his own life. This is another area that would cause him problems. In the game, doing this does not hurt. Doing this outside of the game would cause him pain. He'd still be capable of it, and be able to heal himself after, but his aversion to pain would make him far more hesitant, and it would shock him the first time it happened.
Artistry
Bracken has never tried to draw, but upon doing so he would reveal a great amount of talent for it. What he lacks in words he makes up for in vision. If he were to write a diary, it would be best expressed in nothing but doodles. He's especially good with colors, and loves admiring how different colors go together.
